November 2003 (interview)

L. A. Saditte, Inc. is pleased to announce that one of our youngest artist Eric I. Keyes III has just signed his first book deal.  After the deal was officially inked we asked young Eric a few questions. 

Saditte:  How does it feel to have a book deal?

Eric: "Funny, because what I wrote started out as poetry and now, it is a small children's book.  I  never knew I could write poetry and make it into a book and people would like it.  I mean my Mom likes it but she has to like it....she is my Mom!   I guess I am an actor turned writer."    

S: When did you first get really excited about this whole process?

E: "I first  got really excited when I saw the pictures for my book.  When I saw the illustrations, I was like, whoa!  This is for real!  The next exciting thing was when they told me I had to  fly to Chicago to be apart of the Black Expo, I was really happy about that."  

S:  What are your friends saying?

E: "Not much because I can't discuss the details regarding the contents of the book or how the pictures look. I can't even discuss the title yet.  Big secret stuff...ya' know!" (smiling)

S: When can you discuss it?

E: "When my publisher gives the green light."

S:  You sound so industry like.

 E:  "I try." (laughing)

S: Thank you Eric for hanging out with us.  

E: "No problem."
